Default AB Battle Weekend

Anyone else get tired of sitting for 15 minutes to play for 5? It was a fun idea, but is there any way the servers can be increased if this event is planned again? Obviously there was a HUGE amount of interest in it.

Ok, i was kurzik, that's the wait. I had assumed that there weren't enuf luxons, but every time someone mentioned that, 395757 people screamed "no its the servers". So it was basically just uneven, which makes sense. having the factions transfer guy there WOULD BE SWEET.

It has nothing to do with servers, I don't know where this rumour comes from.

There needs to be an equal number of people on each side, and if there is an imbalance, you'll have to wait, simple as. I've checked this extensivly, it really is the case!

I tried to tell many folk that the server was nonsense but would they listen?

Yesterday i played Luxon to round out my points and then Kurzick,
when i played luxon there was 2 districts operating with not even half full in them

I went of to Kurzick to play and there was 4 international districts alone,
People were always goign on about more servers and I told them it was not servers it was amount of folk on luxon being so few. I told them that Gaile had confirmed that there was an unlimited amount of servers for ab, but they said Anet or Gaile was being economical with the truth and I shouldnt believe it.

Basically this shows me how dumb the player base is, the luxon district i was in had about 5 groups of 4 in it, being the only district as well, I waited less than a minute to getinto fights. I then was in a kurzick district it had about 12 groups of 4 in it and it was district 4, the other districts were far more populous.

I was going to play it some, but I spent all weekend playing DoD Source. Mainly because I knew this server crap would happen. I don't have the patience to wait 15 minutes for a match you'll lose in 5 because you got placed on a retarded team.

Yeah...playing as Kurzicks when it was at Kaanai had no wait times whatsoever, at Ancestral Lands....about 20 countdowns :P

People just don't want to play when they're disadvantaged =/

I was in disbelief that for most of Saturday the map stayed at Kaanai. I lost over 10 straight matches on that map and most of them were total pwnage by the luxons. My alliance was like wtf... how can the map not change when the luxons are winning so much.

I was so frustrated with losing, I waited for the map to change to at least neutral. When it did, frustration set in again as most wait times were from 5 to 15 minutes.

It was a good idea but with so much faction being able to be gained, people were switching sides when the map favored one side over the other.

Weird, I didn't have to wait for more than a min to get into a match during the weekend? And I played during a bit after midnight of USA "average" time too?

If the map is at your advantage, like ancestral lands, there's less waits, because the luxons simply aren't in a hurry to get owned. If kaanai canyon is on the luxons wait because kurzicks aren't in a hurry to get owned.

That's all really.

Solution: rebalance the maps and the waits are gone. You can never play a bit competitive anyway if you know you're at a huge disadvantage to begin with.

The solution would be to add an incentive to playing in a disadvantaged map if people can't stay loyal to their faction just so they can win more with less effort to gain materials(either side) or to donate for title(guild must be aligned to that faction or guild-hopping for ppl) not re balancing all AB maps so they are all equal. AB is suppose to allow you to be disadvantaged if you move to enemy territory like real-life considering that you should know more about your territory than your enemy and vise-versa.

The incentive could be greater faction reward for those who are disadvantaged which could help lessen the wait problems by encouraging people to go deeper into enemy territory or staying there, and gain greater rewards for doing so. So you would still play knowing that the odds are against you but you'll reap more in return for winning under unfavorable conditions.

Agreed, I had very fast load times throughout the weekend. Without hard data, the OP's statements is no better then a conspiracy theory.

i dont usually have too bad of a wait in AB. now, aspenwood on the other hand, does seem to have a limit to number of games.

Sigh.... no it doesn't.

You need exactly 8 from both sides. 7 from one and 9 from the other isn't going to work, nor is 8 and 24. So you can end up waiting for a while until the numbers even out.

When we played on Canyon and Eteran Keys maps we got in pretty fast. These maps are Luxon favored maps. When it came time to do the Grenz and Ancestrial Lands we waited forever to get in. It should have been called Luxon Faction Weekend.

I didn't mind the waiting as much as Having to leave my group every 2 to 3 matches to DUMP FACTION! Why the hell isn't there a Faction Transfer NPC in those towns? Is it really that impossible for them to code transfer NPCS outside of Guildhalls? I swear I remember them being there for a short time after Factions was first released but maybe i'm wrong. Either way, Put those friggen NPC'S there!

... No. The problem in the "7 Luxons, 9 Kurzicks" scenario isn't that there are too many Kurzicks; it's that there aren't enough LUXONS. It's an 8v8 game; a match won't start until there's eight people on both sides wanting to enter.

I went Luxon side and got in on the first cycle afterI got tired of waiting to get in on kurzick side (after 10 minutes of "No Opposing Party...").

There was something IMBA about the number of players in AB this weekend, maybe everyone just wanted emo kid black armor
